The problem: same question, twenty suppliers, twenty answers
The PPWR turns supplier data into a legal matter. The manufacturer is responsible for the DoC and technical documentation, and the evidence largely comes from suppliers. In practice, one company sends roughly the same request to many suppliers and gets back different formats, different levels of detail and different timing.
That is not a knowledge problem. It is a process problem.
The principle: collect once, reuse many times
The idea is simple. Every piece of information about a packaging item, a material or a declaration should be collected once, in a structured format, and then used wherever it is needed: in the DoC, in technical documentation, in answers to customer requirements, in reporting.
For the supplier, uploading becomes a clear, recurring task instead of a new email request each time. For the customer, the data sits in one place, linked to the right item.
Four building blocks of a working supplier flow
1. Low barrier for the supplier. Own login, a clear list of what is missing, drag-and-drop upload.
2. Structure from the start. Documents are linked to item numbers and supplier item numbers, and mismatches are flagged immediately.
3. Guardrails that protect. No outgoing DoC if incoming evidence is missing.
4. A trail to follow. Who uploaded what, when, and which version applies?
What it looks like in practice
Christer Nöjd AB uses CO2check's PPWR portal for exactly this. Jens Nyqvist, Chief Operating Officer, says CO2check has helped them “manage and structure DoC and TDS documentation from our suppliers”, making administration more efficient. Read the full customer case.
Where we are heading
Our direction is for suppliers to be able to reuse their structured information with more customers, so the data follows them instead of being collected anew each time. That is a direction, not something we claim is proven at scale today. What we do know is that the process gets easier for everyone when collection is structured from the start.
